Be sure when you are quoted a price for flight training that all these costs are included in the amount. Also remember this is not all paid at once, you pay as you fly. We hope this will help you with budgeting for your private pilot rating. One other thing to remember, you are paying for an education, it is something that you will keep for a lifetime.
We are sure that as you shop around for a place to get your Private Pilot license that you noticed prices are going up. If the web site you are looking at has what appears to be low prices, check for fuel surcharges, airplanes being rented "Dry" which means you have to buy the gas (at about $45 per hour) or other ways that higher prices are being hidden. We do not do this at Success Aviation.
Prices for oil are on the rise and this causes flight training prices to go up.
When you finally decide on a flight school be sure to check over the aircraft carefully and make sure they seem to be well maintained. Things to look for are oil down the side of the aircraft, fluids leaking from the aircraft, etc. Also talk to the instructors, make sure they seem knowledgeable and pleasant, you will be spending many hours with them.
Also ask the flight school what type of insurance is carried on the aircraft and what deductible that you are responsible for. Some schools are requiring you to carry as much as $50,000 in insurance. These things both can indirectly affect the cost of your flight training.
